Default Addax skull flaking

I have a nice Addax skull but unfortunately the horns are flaking a little. Is there anything I can do to fix it or is it a lost cause?

If the skull is flaking cover it with ModPodge and it will stop it from flaking.

Is it the skull or the horns? Was this boiled?

It is the horns. It hasn't been boiled, it has just been out in the weather (I found it). They're not terrible, but they are dried out.

Paint them with linsead oil a couple of times, then cover them with matte modgepodge.
