Question on capes?
I've got cape in the freezer and am wondering how long it will last?

RE: Question on capes?
Depends on how well it is wrapped up. It needs to be in plastic, not paper. Paper literally sucks the moisture right out of a cape. It won't last three months. On the other hand, I'veseen capes that were double wrapped in plastic, last for three years with really no freezer burn at all. I wouldn't suggest leaving it that long to see how well it did though.:DWhat are you planning on doing with the cape?

RE: Question on capes?
It's a muley cape, and the antlers are not that impressive for what I already have (he's a 145 gross at best), but the face markings and coloring are so distinct I couldn't pass ontrying to keep it for a better set.Plus, I figured I may try my hand at mounting my own, just need the guts to do it.
Thanks for the advice. |
RE: Question on capes?
I would flesh it and salt it then send it out and have it wet tanned. Then you could store it and it would be ready to mount when you are ready.
