2004 Massachusetts Archery Buck

Just got my 2004 archery buck back from the taxidermist, I know its a long time but I got it to him fairly late. The deer had a previous injury to his left front leg (broken and healed a little off line) which caused his right antler to grow atypical. He has 8 points on the right counting a small kicker and triple brow tine and four on the left even after breaking his g2 which from the size of the broken area looked like it would have been a very large tine. He is very heavy throughout. I decided to have it mounted on a McKenzie 6400 down series.
Thanks and good hunting

Congratulations! Glad to see you got one. I really like the pose, it really looks the most natural. Looks like a good quality mount, everyone always regrets a poor mount later.

That's a beauty for MA. Who did the mount for ya?
Eastern, Central, or Western MA?

Western MA Hunter the buck pictured above was shot in southeastern MA, heres a photo of 3 Pope and young bucks I have taken locally. The two on the left were also from southeastern MA ( 10 pt and 7 pt)and the one on the right (9 pt) was close to you in CT Housatonic State Forest and weighed approx 215 lbs.
I really dont have a honey hole as all the bucks were taken miles from each other but try to locate mature bucks through a lot of winter and fall scouting. I truly have been blessed with my share of good fortune. At the time of entry it was believed that the center buck which had to be scored as a six point was the largest six point from Ma in the book. The CT was taken in September and has a beautifull short summer coat, the seven point I had mounted in an aggressive pose with head down and ears back and down but really am not happy with the pose and have talked about possibly having it changed.
Best of luck

That is a great wall of MA/CT deer. Looks like your homework definately paid off. I love the look of the CT deer's September coat. My buddy has 2 mounted from CT in Sept. One is in full velvet still, the other must have just shed it. I have never hunted Eastern MA... only Berkshire County. I do hunt CT as well (Canaan area).

Congrats and thanks for sharing the pics.
