looks like my dream house.....im kinda addicted to getting stuff mounted myself....well...i might be!....i got a squirrel and a wild brown trout at 2 diffrent taxidermists right now.....both should be done this summer hopefully....already planning a good sized native brookie in full blown colors and a wild rainbow in good colors and good size to go with the wild brown.....i dont like killing wild/native trout...theres not many around....and dying off quickly weather anyone will admit it or not...we cant contol what we did in the past...mining..timbering...farming..air polutants...acid rain ect all slowly killing them...but the wild brown choked and died on my spinner...so figured he should go on the wall....the squirrel was pretty rare i think...dad killed 1000s of squirrels in his day....and i killed a bunch myself since i started hunting...but the gray squirrel has DARK choclate on it instead of white....cant wait till its done...so i got 2 things coming and im only 19....and already planning to add...along with 2 antler mounts and a turkey fan...grouse tails ect...nice mounts...i like having stuff like that to look back on.....

I personally wouldn't spend a bunch of money of different animals unless I could do it myself. As for deer heads? There is never to many.

Hows this for contrast? Ive been doingtaxidermy since I was a teenager, and in probably the last 25 years, averaging around 100 deer a year plus whatever else you can imagine (and some you probably couldnt, lol) and you know how many mounts are in MY house? The old deerhead in the boys room, and a Tom Sexton bass as a gift from Tom near my bookshelf. Thats it! Yes, I have a full display in my showroom at the shop, but honest, just two mounts in the house. My friends can never believe that, lol.

Bill,
Just confirms the theory that a mechanic's car never runs, a carpenter's house is never finished, a shoemaker's children go shoeless and.....
A taxidermists wall is without trophy!

I can contradict the last post. I've been a taxidermist for twelve years and normally take in 100-150 deer heads a year. My living room is currently home to 26 deer heads, 5, yes 5, full body coyotes, 2 bobcats, 1 turkey, 1 pronghorn, a grey fox, an otter, and 2 wood ducks. To add to that, the hearth on my fire place holds over 100 of my biggest shed antlers. People usually freak out, the first time they come to my house. I'm about to run out of studs to hang deer on. I guess I'll just have to start mounting the deer lifesize so they can sit in the floor.
