#1
Ok Everyone!
We are a week away from the Archery Extravaganza! and the dinner tickets are just about sold out! What dinner, Father's Day "All you can eat" Roast beef dinner with all the fixings. Cost is $12.00 for those 12 years and over! What about the kids, 12 and under are free! Makes a great way to end Father's Day and Mom doesn't need to cook!!! Maybe we should call it mothers day off!
The 40 target IBO course is set and pre-registrations have been coming in! Again the $40 fee allows you to shoot all 120 targets if you want, and enters you in the $200.00 IBO SHOOT-OFF! As always the top 20 archers from each class get the invite from IBO to the IBO World event!
For those of you that want to shoot just for fun the 60 target courses for $20.00 each day are available! This is the prefectshoot to keep you in hunting form over the summer months.
The course is open as soon as you can see the targets, 5:30 AM or so! Club House will be open for Breakfast and Lunch both days!
If you are a Spot target shooter we have the SAAM FITA open event and the JOAD field event going on Saturday June 20th.
Where, Wankinquoah Rod and Gun Club - 92 Pine Street Middleboro MA 02346, Exit 3 or 2 off of Route 495 and follow the signs! June 20 and 21, 2009
Oh yea! We have the Sportman's Show going again this year open to the public for free and free parking!
Hope to see you all there!

Archery Extravaganza! and IBO World Qualifier held June 20th and 21st
Well the weather again was the determining factor this year! We got a break Saturday and the rain held off to off and on drizzle! So most of the shooters got a fair shake at all 40 IBO 3D targets and the remaining 20 3D fun targets! As last year the Club did their usual job of challenging the archers with incredible lane shots, Harry Devore done it again! The comments were all positive on the setup of the courses and the facilities. Plenty of help from the orange shirts and directions could not have been better, there were even aerial maps of all the courses and target placements for all the shooters. The club did its usual testing of every archers bow and randomly weighing arrows to the IBO rules.
The FITA and JOAD field tournament had about 100 archers competing in different categories. Thanks goes out to SAAM and its crew for setting up a great field event.
Sunday the weather got worse with a strong drizzle to down right raining but the archers braved the wetness and shot the courses again. All in all, a fun event for everyone!
The finale was the $200.00 IBO shoot off! As the crowd gather to watch the IBO archers compete for the last archer standing and the bragging rights. This year the shoot off was a little more difficult! “You're kidding” was all that was heard! As the 3D target wavier in the wind, the competitors had to break an egg that was swinging in the wind, thanks to mother nature. Round one several managed to hit the target while many others were eliminated, to include last years winner and local favorite!
So it went we moved back further to make the final round at 38 yards! Trying to hit an egg swinging in the wind was more difficult than you may think particularly at 38 yards. In the end the top shooter was Steve Hillard Staff Shooter for PSE using a PSE X-Force bow. Congratulations goes to Steve winning the $200.00 prize and bragging rights.
After the Shoot-off everyone retired to the club house to see who the lucky winners would be for the many bucket raffles and 2 bows and prints.
Thanks goes out to all of our sponsors for their many donations! Particular mention is Reedy's Archery for the Mission Menace, by Mathews, the bow to grow up with. This amazing bow is adjustable from 17 to 32 inches in draw length and 17 to 52 pounds of draw weight. Special thanks also goes out to Steve Santos and Darton for the donation of the AS-300 bow with 2 ½ cam technology. This bow will be custom ordered from Darton Archery.
We also want to thank all the archers that showed up to make the Archery Extravaganza! A success! See everyone next year!
