Lost GSP - MI

Tuesday, 2/22/05, my daughter’s GSP and a GSD mix dog jumped the fence and took off into the snowstorm. We mobilized everyone we knew and searched all night with trucks and spotlights. The GSD mix was found deceased a few hours after they went missing, he had been hit by a car. A member of the search team arrived just moments after the accident but could not save him. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, so we have no idea if the two dogs were still together or if the GSP was injured in the accident.
Gunner is a 3 yr old, neutered male, solid liver color, who is microchipped. My daughter lives on W Beard Road in Perry, Michigan. The companion dog was killed near the intersection of M-52 and Locke Road in Perry, MI. Flyers have been placed in the three neighboring communities, including veterinarians, feed stores and local rescue organizations. We’re at a loss as to what else to do. The entire family is grieving over the loss of “Henry”, but we understand how important it is to find Gunner quickly. Gunner was an inside dog and would not be able to handle the extreme cold temps were getting at night, so were hoping that some kind soul has taken him in and is looking for his owners.
Anyone with any information or suggestions, please reply to this post or email my daughter or myself privately.

Thank you so much, Tammy

We had a hit on the flyers we put up. Someone said they saw Gunner approxmately 3 miles from the house on Wed 2/23. She saw the dog on Wed but didn't see the flyer until Thursday, so 24 hours had passed and he had moved on, but at least we know he's alive.
Tammy
He's still out there somewhere, keep your eye open.
You can either contact her directly or me and I'll get the message to her.
Thank You
Rachel

I know how that situation can be. My younger GSP ran off chasing deer one night when my dad was letting them out for their nightly exercise. Got a call from him after I had driven 2 hours back up to school saying he had run off. I told them to keep looking for him and called several friends back at home. One of them saw him near a busy highway and eventually my parents saw him but he was too scared to come him. Anyways, I left for home at 4 am (after only 2 hours of sleep) and drove around a bit. Saw a few people out walking and made some contacts with them. Eventually it paid off with the contacts and we found him trotting down a country road, exhausted.
So my advice to you is to actually go door to door around the area you lost him and around the area you think the dog might be. Make some contacts with the people and show them PICTURES of the dog and give them your phone number. Best of luck to you!!!

Got an E-mail from Tammy tonight
Tammy writes:
It's 5:30 pm on Sunday and we just picked Gunner up from my daughter. He was turned over to Shiawassee Animal Control today and because we had done such a good job of keeping in touch with them he was only minimally processed and returned right away. He's very thin and my daughter is not equipped to handle him so he'll stay with us till he's well. I would like to thank you for all the suggestions, prayers and moral support. It helped us get through the passed few days. Tammy
PS....I wish there was a way for all animal control offices to be open to the public 7 days a week. It would make things like this so much easier for people.
I love a happy ending
