Default Am I asking to much of the dog?

I have become the owner of a 3 yr. old beagle that someone wanted to destroy since he would only take a rabbit for the previous owner. Can I change this beagles orientation or am I only asking for grief? Prepared to take up rabbit hunting if I must but I would like to get him into deer if I can.

hmm... My buddy had the opposite problem! He has a beagle that someone down south trained for deer and we tried to train her on rabbits. Here in Michigan you can't run deer with dogs. We tried to train, or rather, retrain that dog for a year and a half but has had no luck. Were not exactally professionals or anything, but he and i both know a little about dog training. Maybe you'll have more success...

Good Luck!
