Covers the basics. His first point should be well heeded- buy a dog with a good pedigree. You might get a good dog out of the "local paper" but the odds are very much stacked against you.

I agree, my Uncle has bread labs for many years. All of his bitches and studs are purchased from high quality bloodlines and are very expensive, but it does pay off. Labs are an extremely intelligent breed which can be bad, they may figure you out and train you to do what they want you to do. I think that may ne my case, I swear sometimes I am the on that has been trained!
