Hey fellow Bird-dog hunters!
I am now "in the line-up" for 2nd choice of 6 female yellow Labrador retriever pups. This is my 5th Lab I will personally train of my own. But, the 1st with "Pointing Lab" bloodlines. Do any of you own a "Pointing Lab" out there? And how do you like such a "flushing-pointing" Lab? I am very much excited to be getting into this venture soon! The pups will be ready to choose from in March around the 15-16th. "Here I go again"...but, I have been a "Lab-Man" since 1963, it will be a great experience again to teach such a wonderfully loving and intelligent animal as the Labrador retriever is!

I have a PL (he just turned two years). PLs might not be the ideal dog for everyone, but mine is the ideal dog for me. PLs do everything that Traditional Labs are famous for, plus they point.
What kennel are you getting your new pup from? Who are the parents/grandparents? Do you have the Knutson book?

I have a female who comes from pointing dog stock as well as field trial stock. I trained her myself and didn't do a really good job with the pointing. She usually points about 3 pheasants a day when hunting wild birds. She went 6 for 6 in AK master hunter, has gone as high as 2nd in both open and amateur. Her pointing has absolutely no effect on any of her other work in hunt tests or field trials. I just recently got a book written by Paul & Julie Knutson 'The Pointing Labrador' and it appears to me to be a really good training tool to read. Good luck!
