Yep...dogs are with me. They are well conditioned to the heat. Water is carried in for both of us. Wouldnt hunt without one of them tagging along.

I'd say yes. I mowed the lawn, chopped up a lot of Walnuts in the process. All the birds around zeroed in on that bonanza quick.

Sitting in my recliner my dog comes in and drops a Dove at my feet, he got a piece of cheese as a reward. Six hours later he brings me another, again we traded for a piece of cheese. I figure at this rate, another day or two and I'll be able to feed the family for day.

I got Duke out for some birds a couple days ago. Even in 40 degree weather he probably drank half a gallon of water by noon. The field we used was on top of a hill with no water on the ground though so all he got was from me.

First time I've ever been to one of those game preserve farms.

mackesr,
I just saw your post.

Does your dog hunt doves?
No, but I do.

I see a lot of guys using their dog retrieving doves.
So much so, that I keep a grocery sack w/ my name on it in my dove stool.
At my first dove their dog retrieves, I take that sack over to them and ask if they will put mine in here.
Good way to meet a fellow hunter and I like watching the dog work.
Most have a dog bowl and water with'em.

honestly, I started to get involved in hunting relatively recently and even don’t know if my dog can hunt pigeons. But should he be able to?

Took my dachshund out for doves once. He loved it. He was able to pluck most of the feathers for me.

He loved it.
