Default Three legged Dog

My cattle dog a australian blue heeler. He also helps me find deer when i lose the trail. He just got hit by a truck lastnight and the only way to keep him goin was to amputate the right hind leg. For you guys that know alot about dogs, will he still be able to do everything he use to do like work the cattle and everything??

My dog broke her leg on August 18 and we ended up having to amputate it on Oct 10th. She was hunting less than two weeks later. It's unbelievable what these dogs can go through and still do the things they do. Your dog should be just fine, sometimes I think it's harder on the owner than the dog itself.

He may be a bit slower, but otherwise, he won't consider himself handicapped, & neither should you. Enjoy that dog!!

I have a lab mix that got hit a couple years back and broke his right hind leg.He is now as active as ever he goes rabbit hunting with me and my beagles and he can outrun my beagles. The only thing he may not be able to do is to jump up in the back of your pickup truck if it's to high,I have to help Buddy into the back of my truck, but he jumps out as soon as it stops over the side.Good luck!!
