Thanx again everyone for the suggestions (except daleh), I think I'm going back to the muzzleloading forum, we don't seem to have people with that kind of arrogant attitude over there!!!

Well, I am sorry if seem Arrogant and pissed you off.
Maybe, it is beacuse of all the people over the years tring to fix a gun-shy problem when it in fact. It didn't really exsist, they created it as a post. Their dogs have never even been out in the field hunting.
Your Dog (non-hunting dog /house half breed mut) will never go hunting in its life and therefore does not need any training or correction on gun-shyness.
(don't see why you posted for help to begin with)

As for anyone else wanting to avoid this issue
1. Never Shoot Around your dog in the kennel or any other circumstanceyour dog is not out in the field hunting.
2. Do not take yourdog to the sporting clays or skeet range.
3. NEVER SHOOT A HIGH POWERED RIFFLEWITHIN 500YDS OF YOUR DOG.
4. Do Not shoot off fire-works around your dog
5. All Dogs are scared of thunder, even dogs that have had over 10,000 birds shot over them. Don't Worry I'm Scared of thunder too.
Mite,
Sorry,
As for the (banging of the food bowls) it was posted by me on 2-17-06
I am not the greatest trainer nor will I ever be. In fact there are people who have forgot more about bird dogs thanyou orme will ever know.

I think everyone but me and crazycoon got your post. You want to train your dog to not be afraid of loud noises and thought you would be able to find help here like you can on the muzzelloader forum. If I had suggestions I would give them. I hope you found help in the search... good luck

If anyone has good info on this, please post

had a lot of dogs over years and never saw one that was SHY of noise get better.
very sorry.

now, here is what i do on my puppys the FIRST night i get him/her home.
i turn on RADIO in kitchen while puppy is in crate at night.
i put it on SOFT music the first 2 or 3 nights.

i have not had 1 puppy cry over 2 hrs the first night.

THEN ,after a week, i turn radio to things like music and band with drums, horns, whistles, people talking .

not one dog has even shaked at 6 months on shooting gun on first hunt.not 1.

i shoot a 12 gauge close to them too with pheasant .

i even had my lab grab a lit pack of firecrackers in his MOUTH,yes, lit and going off.

NOW, thats one tough dog,and stupid master for letting him get them in dark but it had NO effect .

i believe deeply that my method of training a puppy to noise is without doubt the bestway and it works.

You hit the nail on the head!
I don't know the difference between a bird dog and a hole in the ground.
I guess that is why I won

00 VA Shooting Dog of the year
01 NC All-Age Derby of the year
03 NC Open All-Age Dog Of the year

This forum has gone to from folks that hunt when they can to people who know nothing at all about dogs and even less about bird hunting.
We used to have Pointers vs. Setters and Doc against the world.
Now we have come down to Muts and plain idiots,
Hasthe Deer Hunting Forum got that bad or did they kick Ya'll out for being stupid as well?
