RE: Male or Female

over 45 years HUNTING and FEMALE was always better hunter..

i have MALE lab which hunts hard,so, male is good hunter too..
males are stubborn headed, females i had were always nice, males mean headed at times, macho etc..

i am male dog man but female,in my humble opinion is better hunter....

RE: Male or Female

Males seem to be born hunters, just like humans lol. I think that I can bond better with a male for some reason. He just seems like my buddy. I can't rule out females either, so I'm not gonnasay one or the other. I have a male and prefer them, but that's just me.....

I have rasied deer hounds for 15 years, the best dog that i have ever owned was a male, but i have owned more females that were not far from the best. Females do seem to catch on quicker.

RE: Male or Female

in my opinion the VERY VERY best dogs i have ever hunted with whether be coon dogs, bird dogs, or labs tend to be males, however i prefer females because i think on average they are better dogs. German Shorthairs are by far the best breed to upland hunt with in my opinion and would not own anything but. I dont think you could go wrong with either male or female its just personal preference and what each INDIVIDUAL dog is like and what YOU like in the dog and dislike in the dog. No dog will ever be perfect so pick the closest one to perfect you can find.

I have owned both Setters and GPS. I don't think one breed is better than the other. They both have their strengths/weaknesses. The best dog is the one with the most training.

Tie breaker may be the fact the short haired dog requires a lotless grooming.

which dog would be better with another breed in home, like say you have male lab like i do,some said the setter is best bet in a male but was curious how GSP is with another male........
