Default Some people should not own dogs!

Had to take my roommate's pitbull to the animal shelter today and it makes me so angry. Ever since this young kid moved in, the dog has been destructive. The dog ripped up the hot tub cover which is going to cost alot of money, dug through the deck and ripped up the window screen and screen door. I don't know how much the window screen is going to cost, its bent to hell and vinyl.

Backyard is a total mess. Trash everywhere and dog feces. Yet, the roommate refuses to clean it up. He's had two warnings from animal control. His dog kept getting out as I think he chewed the fence somewhere behind the bushes. Three weeks before he did anything about it, he placed a board against the fence.

He ties the dog out in back. Well, he starts another hole in the deck. Neighbors are angry because it barks all day. I put the dog in the garage but the garage is a total mess and its unsanitary with dog feces. I will not let the dog in the house! There is too many valuables.

All this time, the roommate leaves the dog unattended with no food or water. This time for over 36 hours. This is typical, day after day. I found out that when he left the dog tied outside, he left the faucet running. 24/7 of steady stream of water running.

He leaves the garage lightand stereo on 24/7. One day he left theportable heater on and Iwas angry enough to kill him. His television is on 24/7. He does all this and can't make rent. He has put so much money into his Honda crx.His 7th engine is sitting in the garage. New door panels, new seats, 4 stereos, couple of DVD players, new hood, etc. yet he can't pay rent and wont payhis share of utilities.

He's being evicted now. He knows that so he's staying away so he wont get the notice. He won't find out about his dog until its too late. But I gave himover 15 days notice that his dog couldnt stay, yethe ignores it.

What gets me angry is that to dog isn't mean but it's getting there because of neglect. Legally, I can't give the dog away but I can legally surrender it to a kill shelter. I went to a local non kill shelter andthey couldn't acceptit because they were just too full. They have a waiting list for surrenders.

Don't give it to a kill shelter! It's not the dogs fault itt is like that. Find another no kill shelter. There are plenty of them across the country. I am sure that there is more than one in your surrounding area. Sorry to hear about all the damages and the bad roommate. I would consider taking him to court for any damages, rent & utilities (if you have had to pay his share). Good Luck, sounds like you need it!

Thanks. There is another one 60 miles away near where I hunt but that one is full too. There's a note on the door on the shelter that says they give free neutering/spaying for pitbulls. Way too many pitbulls in this city. I tried everything to get the dog into the non-kill shelter but there's a long waiting list for surrenders. I actually went there with the dog but they just wouldn't accept it.

The shelter has the owner's work place number and name. He has three days to pick his dog up. I can't legally give his dog away and it's too unsanitary to leave itin the garage or the backyard. Neighbors will complain if I do. It barks something awful. He keeps his room locked. I could put in the entryway but the dog will chew thru anything I put up, babygate orplywood and that would be a temporary solution. I've had 3 months of this and I can't take it anymore.

There is dog feces everywhere.

First pic is the garage, second his room, third is his bathroom

"If itis nota bird dog it dose not deserve to live."
That is the true redneck comming out in me. Ilove animals and hate to see bad people own them. i also hate agressive animals and destructive animals with my redneck passion.
There is a place for everything. Treeing dogs, deer hounds, bird dogs, retrievers, and even flushing dogs.
I even appreciate the Agressiveness of a good team of hog dogs.
However,I would never condone the pet ownership of anyaggresive type dogin aresidental type setting.
With that said i would never let anyone buy one of mybirddogs to let run loose in a nieghborhood as well.
See even FOO-FOOs have a place in our world

This guy is a f'ing tool. I found out that he had his mother call the shelter because he don't want to face the animal control officer or the shelter rep. Now, he's trying to use a legal 'trick' on me. Basically, he told the police that I threaten him. Hence, he's trying to get me arrested and 100 yard restraining order. So, he can stay for free and kick me out. I haven't spoken with the guy for a month!

Ihopehis dog turns viscous and mauls him.

He's a slob in many ways. Be rid of him ASAP, also call the ASPCA for leaving a dog w/o food or water is a crime. In addition filing a false report is also a crime. I would call the police and ask charges be pressed, if nothing else if you go to court that would be a matter of public record that you can use to bolster your case.

Well, atleast the dog is gonna live. But I really pity it. He won't even buy a collar for it. He used my prong collar and it was way too tight for the dog's neck. He won't spend a dime on the dog but is willing to buy two new engines, new seats, rims & tires, door panels, turbocharger, hood, etc. for his car. I called the police and they told me, if he reported a threat they would have contacted me. Another lie he pulled out of his butt.

I agree that some people should never own a dog!!! It is sad that some people will get a dog and ignore them so they can do whatever it wants...
But, to try and turn things around is a bit crazy I think for be neglectfull and won't take ownership to it.. I also agree that he needs to take ownership to the damage the dog created though, reguardless of what anyone feels about it.. He maybe acting out by trying to get you in a mess Mite but, with those pics and all I think you will come out pretty good.....

Ihopehis dog turns viscous and mauls him.

i can understand how you would feel about it, but, I think deep down you really wouldn't want that to happen. As it would only give more bad names to all dog owners.. Good Luck on fixing this situation though...
