I am looking for a versatile dog, I want a flushing dog that may be able to doa little water fowl hunting also. Is there such a dog? A friend recommended a Springer Spaniel. What do you all think?

The best answer I could give is figure out what your primary bird you're going to hunt and then you're seconary. Give consideration to the terrain, cover and conditions you'll be hunting and how you hunt.
Then find breeders that breed for the way you hunt.As far as breed , heck it's like deciding how one picks a wife or girlfriend. There are many breeds that will do what you want, the question is what kind of dog do you want as your compadre when you're not hunting.

This is a friend of mine. They have a lot of experience breeding Springers. If you decide to contact them, tell them Bob from OVESS told you about them.

This is another good place to research the Springer.

Goldens are great. I have a 10 month old that is officially a duck dog. He has been on 5 or 6 hunts now and has finally put it all together. I have a feeling that he will soon be all the duck dog I could ever want. I plan to use him for dove as well. They are great companions as well. He takes everything my 2 and 7 year old kids do to him without even blinking an eye.
