German hunting terrier
Hello everyone!
This is my first thread in this forum... I'm afraid that my english is not very good, for that I apologize. Anyway I live and hunt in the south of sweden, mostly with my german hunting terrier. My terrier hunt almost everyone of our common swedish games, fox, badger, wildboar, moose and roedeer. I understand that this breed is used also in the USA!?! My question is: How do you people use the german hunting terrier? is it used only for boar hunting or other game to? |
RE: German hunting terrier
Are you talking about a Jagdterrier?

RE: German hunting terrier
Yes, It's the same breed, is it called Jagdterrier in the US?

RE: German hunting terrier
That is what I know them as. I don't own one but have looked into it. Montana does not allow blood tracking wounded animals with a dog(dumbest thing I ever heard), so I have put off getting one. I have Deutch Drahthaars right now, totally in love with these dogs. My breeder says the jagdterrier is the toughest dog pound for pound in the world. I have never even seen one in person, very rare breed here I guess.
Does your dog get along with other dogs? I have heard they are one dog one owner one family dogs? |
RE: German hunting terrier
Your breeder is probably right, the jagdterrier is one badass dog. My breeder has around 15 jagdterrier for personal use/hunt. My dog get along with my 2 other dogs but he can be a little agressive agains other unknown dogs. I have worked very much with his obedience-training. His lust for hunting seems almost endless. He pretty much wants to kill every other animal. At home he's very calm and pleasant, but in the woods he's a monster....
