I have a nice new pup named Buster. He is a full black lab from the S.D. Black Hills Area. Both his parents are hunters and the mother was a trials competitor.
I am looking to train him primarily for waterfowl. I live in Lake Co. IL.

I lost better than half of my fisrt post!![&:]
I am looking for possibly a club or something where I can train my dog. I live in subrbia hell and the people around here are more nervous about gunshots than they are in Downtown Chicago.
Duck/Goose season is all but over and all of the books that I have read so far tell me to get the dog on birds as soon as possible. How? There is NO WAY that I can keep any kind of pigeons or anything and other than a local ethnic store, I am not sure where I can get wings, or whole un-feathered birds if at all?

If you're a newbie trainer, go with the "10 Minute Retriever" by John and Amy Dahl.
If you've trained a dog or two, go with the "Smartwork" series of books by Evan Graham.
