OVer the past few years, I've had female dogs named Chloe, Missy, Maggie, and Chelsea.

Personally, I prefer unique names so that if I happen to hunt with someone else, there is less chance to have dogs with the same name. (Yeah, I know Missy isn't unique, but she was already named when I got her).

My 8 mth old Rottie's is DIVA, not your typical hunting breed I know but we are going to try her in the grouse woods next year, so we'll see what she can do.

Mine is Nesene, Cheyenne for "friend" but the also respond to B*^%*(^; F*(&*% V&*^, DA8&&*^%.

Lost my chocolate lab 2 years ago this Christmas week She was 10 and had artritis bad, had to do the right thing, she fought right till the end. Miss her alot. Her name was Koko, perfect for a big brown lab. I hope you use it in a way my Koko will carry on.

I think the Rottweiler and the Basenji are the most overlooked hunting dogs.

As for a female name no otherdog is commonly named.

I got a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog from Katrina in NOLA. She was 4 months old and made the 1600 mile trip to Vermont in the back of a 26'movingtruck. Her name is Fanny Mae and she is the best dog I ever owned. All heart and lots of love and sheenjoys the snow.

my beagle's name is alli. i like it, easy to yell and is "pretty." my girlfriend calls her alliver...(like oliver)

other dogs include:
female fiest named "dirrty" (sister named it after the Christina Aguilera song...)
female mutt somebody dropped named "A.D." (my sister and i's first initials, mom named it)
male mutt somebody dropped named "Sarge"
male poodle named "levi"

past dogs:
dropped mutt named "chubby"
collie named "lady"
poodles named "rusty" and "sheba"
dropped mutt named "marvin"

wow...i just noticed we take in a lot of strays....

I have had dogs with the names: Sarah, Lexi, Miss B, Trixie, Maggie, Paws, Pudge, Lola, Cinch, and Q. However If I were to name her I would go with Chickadee. It is unique and different along with feminine.

My girls' name is Dakota's Sweet Kelsey. Dakota is the name of the kennel she came from and was trained. Sweet is my last name and the wife liked the name Kelsey. She actually wanted Casey, but I hunt with a buddy that has a casey already. Kelsey knows the difference between her name and Casey. When it is Caseys' turn to retreive a bird Kelsey doesn't break when Caseys name is given to retreive.

I just bought a 6 month old female yellow lab, her name is Sofie, or Sophie...really like that for a female

The best dog I ever had was a short haried pointer named molley.Lab is another great dog to have really easy to train and listen well.Had one of them her name was roxy.

Here's the short list from our families' pasts: Just the dogs who hunted, and Missy-

Labs- Sophie, Brandybear, Mae West, Miss Kitty, Misty, Honey, Chloe

Beagles- Puffin, Ethel, Bailey, Bernadine, Ruth, Rachel

Fiest- Truck(see what happens when you askthe 3 year old's opinion?)

Pit bulls- Moirah, Cleo, Hattie, Madonna (1970-something), Hecuba, Katiedog, Jade, Blue.

and then there was Missy-Grandma's incredibly gentle, friendly, german shepard who literally tried to eata politician one day. Grandma always said Missy was a good judge of character.

i jus got a lab pup yesterday its a boy but i named him "coors" cause the first thing he drank around me was a drink of my coors light.. :D
