RE: Coyote Dogs

I know of a guy years passed on. That used used greyhounds for coyotes. this is of course back in the days when killing a horse once a week to feed dogs was not PC. In a weeks period, he would have forty yotes to show. other than the greyhounds though, it was a good set of horses needed.

RE: Coyote Dogs

I have been hunting coyotes and fox for over 5 years now. The best breed we found was a running walker. Occasionally we got the coyote with a fired shot. The dogs are great loud mouthed dogs for both coyote and fox. The best thing you could do is go with that coyote group and see what its like. I was a little hesitate right away but once we ran our first coyote I knew this was a excellent sport. If you want coyote dogs and dont mind a travel, In northeast WI there are and will be excellent dogs for sale. Right now wehave one person in our group that has some for sale.
The only bad thing with the Running Walkers and most other breeds is that they kind of like deer alittle bit. We got some excellent dogs by breaking them off of deer and can catch up to a coyote almost anytime. We hunt from 8am to dark sometimes for 3 days on the weekend and dont show a sign of tiredness.
If you buy a dog make sure it can run coyotes and fox. Some poor dog owners say they have decent dogs when they dont even get excited when a dead coyote is in front of their nose.

What do you guy get $ for those dogs - I might be willing to make a road trip of it if the dog was good and the price was right.

I have two coon hounds that i thought of trying to train on coyote but I don't know if they would have enough stamina to keep up with a coyote. They are Bluetick/Plott mixes - I have them started on coon and they have caught on quick but i don't know if trainning them on coyote too would be a good idea - I wouldn;t want to be out coon hunting and have them jump a coyote and end up in the woods all night looking for the dog. I think I would want a dog dedicated to coyotes only. Let me know about those dogs -
