This spring, the NLGDC (National Llewellin Gun Dog Club) this year in MO will host an AF Open trail this spring. This will be open to all breeds but must be registered with FDSB. Llewellin owners want to see how their dogs stack up to other breeds LOL. But this event will be a shooting dog type event, ie. handler will be walking. If you're up that way, you should show them how it's done .

A prof. trainer, Lou Gleber from Loranger, LA, who I talk to on another board will probably enter his setters. I've been talking to him about someone hopefully making a training DVD for the club. He said he was approached once by Animal Planet to create one; field training techniques for the common dogs, but didn't do it. Because he doesn't teach 'parlor tricks'. Anyway, the other two finalist were Bill West and Delmar Smith. Don't know if the project went through. He said he's willing if someone would 'produce' it. But he's clear across the country from me :P

Nah, don't worry about it. Lou Gleber is another prodigy of Bill West. Kinda. He was already trainingdogs when Bill West took him under his wing. These video's are not going to professional, if they happen at all. It will just be for club members. Too bad you can't make the trail. It will be a walking trail. Anyway, how's business? Most owners are waiting till spring for training, so if business is slow it should pick up by then.

Sorry, I don't know atm. I've posted the question and prolly hear real soon. I was talking to someone and they mentioned MO trail then went on to talk about spring trial. I think I put 2+2 together and got 6. I mayhave gotten itmixed up like I usuallydo. Butlooking at past schedule the MO trail is in Oct. They have several trial throughout the year alot in IL and just finished one in AL.

But this is what he wrote: "I'm really going to push or lean on him [his brother]to come to our Spring event...The club is going to take a big step forward with our AF event this year. Besides holding our regular club style event of shoot to retrieve for Llewellins. We will be holding an AF Open event that for the first time that is not restricted to Llewellins only. This will be a 1 hour continous course event with the handlers walking. Same as we have been doing for the last several years. I would expect to see a more formal anouncement comming from the clubs President shortly on this topic."

"Pyramid State Recreation Area. Pickneyville Il. March 11 & 12 NLGDC annual AF Classic Open Event. Talking with Gary Wente and he indicated there would also be a Derby event torun with this event. He also stated this event will be for the first time open to any pointing breed. Dogs will need to be steady to wing and shot, back their brace mates. Handlers will be walking during this 1 hour course and Judges on horses. We hope to have extra horses for those who would like to follow the event.Handlers will be required to fire blanks upon the flush of pointed game.

Also the club will hold their annualSparks Mermorial Open event along witha Derby an puppy event restricted to Llewellin's only. These events will be run under the NLGDC shoot to retrieve rules and placements are able to gain points toward the clubs championship. The owners and handlers must have a membership with the club to earn these points and to participait in these events.

The Sat night dinner will also be the annual membership meeting. Members will get to vote for officers of the club and the rules and regulations to run the clubs events and avctvities by. There's also a small silent auction table set upfor those attending to participait in and we have been running a gun raffle that will be drawn that night. Anyone interested in purchasing a ticket for the gun drawing ( Beretta AL390 12ga.) you can contact me or any NLGDC officer. You don't have to be present for this drawing."

The gun is a Beretta 12Ga AL390 Semi-auto 3" Black, (MSPR is $750)plus choke tubes and $100 Boyt Gun Case. The raffle tickets are I believe $10 ea. but let me make sure.
