RE: Anybody hunting with bloodhounds?

I do not know about the size of a cougar or exactly how they are hunted other than tracked with dogs. What I do know is tracking wounded game. I would not want to hunt a bloodhound off lead. Too much chance of getting off the track and gone tracking something else. There are some forums just for bloodhounds if you are interested look them up and ask questions on there. Those people will be able to give you more specifics on how people use and train their bloodhounds. Most tracking dogs can be trained to track what you tell them ( Bear, deer, elk, people)

Grizzly How is the pup doing? Is he starting to put weight on the leg?

RE: Anybody hunting with bloodhounds?

3d,average cougar size around 130 lbs.,I have heard of a 236 lb. cougar, but most between100 and 150.To hunt cougar, several ways to hunt. One way is to drive[or horseback]looking for tracks, when you find one walk it out until the dogs can run it.Another way is if you have a trained cougar strike dog, drive logging roads or whatever local trails you have until your dog strikes, then run track til you tree your cougar.Yes, it is that simple,or is it?And you can train your hound not to run undesired game.
