I am thinking about making a trip to Alabama to do some turkey hunting.
I was wanting to know where would be some good public areas to hunt?
When would be the best time to turkey hunt, the early, middle or end of your season? And how much hunting pressure do the public lands get and what"s the turkey population like on public land? Thanks for any information you guys can give me.

They're gobblin already. The dang things are everywhere, but I don't have any specific information about public lands. One thing about it though, Alabama has a lot of different WMA's.

I've got a buddy that has a home around Hurtsbrough, says turkeys are all over the place and on the leases too. I'll ask him if he or his buddys know of any public areas for you.
The drive is so long for me up there I only hunt private and lease. But I'll tell you this, Bama has alot of birds compared to Extreme Southern Florida. Plan on going up in Early to mid April. Last year they were hot and heavy. Pretty cool hearing them just outside the house.
