i wouldnt recommend this web site if your hunting the northwest or panhandle of texas. most of the suggestions or arguments on this website are hogs shot at close distances with a small caliber.
what part of texas will you be hunting?
i would suggest a .30 caliber, .308, 30-06 or .300. most any caliber will do unless taking long shots.

Not familiar with that area. I hunt hog in Jack County, and there are just a few rules.
1.) Never go alone
2.) Always pack a pistol with ya
3.) Always have one guy with a 12 gauge, 3 1/2 in 00 Buck.
The hogs in Jack have killed a couple of people, and there population is on the rise, despite our best attempts to kill em all.
