Hey guys. Well I don't find much time to post here on the boards being in school and all, and needless to say, the farther I get in school, the less time that I have. Well, it looks as if my career goals are going to take me to Georgia. As of now, I am seriously considering moving to Georgia to earn my PhD at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Being from Arkansas, I will definately be in a new environment, and I am wanting to research my hunting possibilities while in Georgia (probably about 5-6 years). I absolutely love hunting here in Arkansas, and well, If I am not at school, I am in the woods, then it gets dark, I go see the girlfriend, then to bed, and back in the woods early the next morning! I tried looking up information from the Georgia DNR website but man is that site confusing! Can you guys give me any insight into the situation, as I realize there probably won't be many hunting opportunities in Atlanta! Also, a 10 deer limit for antlerless deer! Wow! Are you THAT overun with deer/doe in Georgia?!?!? Thanks for any input.

There are plenty of places to hunt here in Georgia. We have 2 national forests (Chattahoochie which is north of Atl. and Oconee which is south of Atl.), there is also WMA's which some have quota hunts you have to apply for, but some are open certain dates to the public. You can also try to join a Hunting Club, if you have disposable income.
There is a 12 deer limit...2 Bucks and 10 Does, which the DNR is trying to raise to 17 this year. Heck I don't even shoot near the limit now, there is no way I would or have the need for 17 deer. Our season run September to January so there is plenty of time to fill the freezer.
When you get moved send me a email, I live a 1 1/2 south of Atl. I can help you out with finding and getting started hunting around here.
