When will the rut start and peak here in central NC(Wake, Harnett, Franklin in particular)? I have been a few times and seen 2 deer both by themselves. A few rubs, no scrapes. Anyway, what do you think?

Anyone?......Bueller........Anyone? We could even use this thread as a sightings report. My uncle shot at a big 10 point last friday night on some private land in Holly Springs. Come to find out, his scope was out of whack.

I hunt a couple hundred acres just outside of Asheboro between Hwy 49 and Old Hwy 49. From my observations, the deer are beginning to rut and it'll go full tilt within the next several days. But it varies by a few days from herd to herd, I THINK.
I've seen lots of fresh scrapes but hardly any rubs.

MackRack, you from Franklin co.? I am.
The rut is not fat from coming in full force. There's been some chasing, although it looks only half-hearted though. Few scrapes and rubs. I hunt some land in southern Franklin co., and north-east Wake. Both right off of big swamps.

I'm not from Franklin county, my grandparents have some land near Louisburg which I hunt. I mostly hunt in the southern part of Wake county. My dad saw 6 deer together yesterday morning. So I think they are starting to herd up.
