Alabama has a fairly late season compared to other states, but the best time to hunt here is usually in January because our rut is so late, and by the time that rolls around a lot of people are tired of hunting.

On our club lands we stopped all bow hunting except for a small (300 acre) lease area. We got tired of inept hunters coming back in talking about "sticking one, but it got away". One guy "stuck" 4 last year and only recovered one doe. We also plant the food plots on this area last, so there is not much greenery up during early bow season.

I am originally from down there !

Went back for opening weekend and killed a doe on my dad's farm Friday and another doe at my buddy's place Saturday ! It was good to be back "home" hunting and all the hardwoods bottoms sure are pretty compared to all these pine thickets around here !

The deer down in AL seemed to really be in the bottoms and a lot of acorns dropping ! We saw a few spikes but no biggun's ............and a bunch of does.........I mean a bunch !

Good luck this season !
