:D

Speaking of snakes, this is what it looks like in one of my turkey hunting areas in extreme southern Florida. You're standing less than 36" from a very large cotton mouth. If you don't see it, maybe just get your Osceloa in central or northern Florida. Don't feel bad, I posted it on a duck hunting web site and they couldn't find it. But worse than that, I had to grab my 66yr old father by the seat of his pants before he stepped on it. At least the gators are easier to see.:D:D:D:D

Can you post a bigger picture?

Or maybe give us a clue as to his location?

I've been staring at this picture for 20 minutes and can't see anything that looks like a cottonmouth.

Thanks

:D:D:D See if you can see it now. It's just right in of the middle and has it's mouth wide open facing you. It's left eye is looking right at you.

I think all the rain the past two months has something to do with it all.... I am hoping that they will all disappear soon

I think I see the snake in that picture, its just hard to tell thankfully!

Man I hate snakes so much that it keeps me from spring turkey hunting.
All it took was one story from someone who almost sat on one. It gives me chills just thinking about it.

Snakes shouldn't be enough to keep you from hunting. They aren't the menace that everyone makes them out to be. I have hunted snakes commercially for years, though not any more, and I have found them to be one of the more harmless critters in the woods. A good pair of boots will provide protection from most bites, but I have not had to test that yet, thank goodness. Snakes would much rather slither away or stay still and hope to go unnoticed than to bite. For them, their venom is their livlihood. No venom, no dinner! They may put on a pretty good show, but they would prefer not to waste venom they don't have to.

For me, a spider is a much bigger problem. I can't stand the creepy little things. There isn't a couple feet difference between the blunt end and the sharp end like a snake. Darned things have not boundaries. They like shoes, shower curtains, closets, everything. And to think the average person eats 6 spiders in their sleep! Oooo! And to top it off, the U.S. banned all the good chemicals that can kill them good and dead. Thank God for Mexico. They still know how to make a good indoor insecticide.

Note: I said the snakes won't hurt you, but they can make you hurt yourself.:)
