I'm heading down to Hampton, VA to meet some inlaws around the end of June. We are going for 12 days, and I got the okay from the wife to go do some hunting or bowfishing while I'm down there. I figured I better get researching now while I have some time.
Anybody have some information on bowfishing or hog hunting in southern VA or North Carolina? If anybody has good outfitter recommendations, could you e-mail me either a phone number or websight addy?
Also, I will read through the "Visiting the south... I'm worried" thread to make sure I know how to act when I venture down ya'lls way. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Jerry, my advise, leave the bow at home. This ain't Alaska. You don't want to shoot a hog in July around here. You don't have enough coolers or ice to keep him from spoiling. I'd call Dr. Jim Wright and talk to him about an offshore charter. He and his boy have 2 boats and can carry about 14-16 people at a time. If you care to drive about 3 hrs north you can fish with me at Ocean City, Md. Also, our new farm in Northern Neck is only about 1.5 hrs north. You and family can stay there for a few days if desired. Then we can fling some arrows. I have plenty of bows. Tuna should be here by then and maybe marlin too. If you wish to go, let me know dates and I can make arrangements. Good Luck. Capt Brad.

Brad, thanks for the invite! We are flying into DC around the 28th of June and driving south to Hampton that afternoon/night. We will be cruising back up to stay with some old time friends the day before we leave in Alexandria. Our flight leaves in the morning on the next day, so we might have some time to break over there. I doubt we will be able to make it back up north since we are meeting my wifes father and sisters for the first time ever. I won't count it out though. I'll need to find more out about dates, what we will be doing and I'd like to still research some hunting. What are the temps like that time of year? Can't be too awful bad.

When you say DC, we have 3 airports. DCA is 7 miles from our house. Dulles and BWI are about 45mins. each. If you have to layover, let me know and you guys can put up here for a night if you don't mind the kids. There are plenty good resturants in town for dinner. We can shoot right here, but have to limit shots to 20 yds. As far as hunting, nothing in Va. except possibly a game farm. I'm not familiar with them. NC might have some action, I don't know. The temps will be around 85 degrees+. I hope you will enjoy your visit down here and we can meet, if only for a beer at the airport. Let me know. Good Luck. Capt Brad.
