RE: Visiting Virginia in July, what to do, what to do?
About the only thing you can kill around here that time a year is ground hog. Stick to the fishing.

RE: Visiting Virginia in July, what to do, what to do?
ABM you can go out on head boats pretty cheap, some of them are real good and some are ripoffs, talk to your father in law, I am sure he could do a little research on some real near where you all will be staying. When I say cheap, I am talking about $20 for 1/2 day and up. Some head boats take out 50 people at a time, if you get into a school of blue you will have a blast, a 5 pound blue pulls harder than a 20 pound salmon ever dreamed of.
All that being said you could run up my way if you like stream/river fishing, by then I hope I will have found some decent spots to fish in my area, this will be my first spring in my area. CAPT BRAD I wish I knew the dates my son will be taking his first leave from the Marine Corp, I have promised him a fishing trip and what you are talking about would be fantastic! ![]() The Tazman |

RE: Visiting Virginia in July, what to do, what to do?
When you talk about hot you have to include Augusta Ga. I have been all over the country and that was the most uncomfortable place I have ever been. In Va. it will get into the high 90's with 95% humidity and that is nasty, but in disgsta (misspelling intended) it will take your breath away and it is instant sticky sweat!

Thanks for the tip redbow, I didn't think of doing that type of fishing. I'll do a search and see what I can come up with.
Anybody know where the James River flows through? |
RE: Visiting Virginia in July, what to do, what to do?
ABM you will be fairly close to the James where you will be staying, I would check on several different places, you have the potomac, rappohanock, and james near where you will be staying, then of course there is the bay, the blues will be running strong while you are here, I wish I had a boat, we could go out and kill the blue, and catch a lot of other fish to boot.

You can always swing by the mountains... If ya'll are into hiking, there are only a few THOUSAND miles of trails. The Jackson river runs through here also. You can fish it, or there is a HUGE lake nearby. There's not much hunting in July, but Crow, Pole-Cat, and Coyote are always in season.
