i live in the asheville area plenty of good public land around try the gamelands book from the nc game commission one trick to hunting public land is dont be afraid of walking most of the hunters stay within a mile of the road if you go farther they just run the game to you good luck if you need any more info just email at [email protected]

You can see the NC Gamelands maps online at http://www.wildlife.state.nc.us/fs_index_04_hunting.htm then click Maps at the top and the zone 1 in the NC map. There are a lot of gamelands to chose. The hunting, fishing, gamelands, and big game for a resident is only $40 annually. Ask for the sportsman license. Big game tags included are 4 bucks 2 doe, 2 boar, turkey, and 1 bear.
