Hi Fellow Hunters ,
I just moved to Quinton Va from Central Michigan on June 5th .Now that my House is somewhat put together I am starting to look for some private land to hunt Deer on . I am not at all familiar with Va or where the hunting is .I have seen several nice deer in the area of New Kent county that I live .If anybody out here knows of anybody with land for lease or Clubs to join in this area,Please let me know .I mainly hunt with primative weapons or handguns but I do sometimes take out a rifle .I would not be interested in dog hunting . I will be hunting in Michigan during most of the rifle season up there .Thanks in advance for any help ,

Bearboy, Good Luck! Not many people out there looking for hunters to come by their place and hunt. It's gonna be tough. What I've found to work best is the old school method that's been taught for years. Start NOW, going out and knocking on doors. Have your hunters ed card with you and talk to the owners. Offer to help around the property this summer for a chance to access the property later. I often ask if I can groundhog hunt first and not even mention deer or anything else. I've found that most farmers want the pigs harvested and if in exchange for some work too, they're willing to let me come by. After a season or two where they see that I close gates etc. and respect their property, they normally invite ME to hunt deer. Build a friendship first, then hunt. Often it's led to access to the neighbors property as well. Every farmer I know needs help throughout the year and if you're willing, they'll help you out in return. Good luck!
