Honey Island Management area in Pearl River Louisiana is infested with them. It is located 1 hour east of New Orleans on the Louisiana/Mississippi state line. They get up to 600 lbs in the swamp. It is hard hunting and you will only get 50 yard shots max..

We've killed a couple on gamelands in Oconee Co, SC. But the season doesn't open until deer season. Private land is open all year I think. It's a "nice walk" in the hills.

allseasonhunter,

Georgia is running over with wildhogs. I may be wrong but I believe you can hunt them year round on our WMA's. There are also quiet a number of hunting outfits in the state that will take you for a fee. dog1

Just about anywhere in the southeast you will find hogs. Most states from the carolinas to Fl. to La. have guides that can take you out all year long. WMAs are different in each state as are the laws so check them before deciding. I do most of my hog hunting in the off season.

Hey Jetblast, you can hunt hogs on SC WMA as long as there is an open season running only using the legal methods for that season. For ex., right now you can legally hog hunt WMA using a .22 mag. since squirrel season is open.

Squirrels closed 1 Mar. Or I'd be there!
