Are any of you guys putting in on the lottery hunts? So far I won an antlerless/spike in Lake Whitney State Park. Hoping to hit a good buck hunt or something even better.

Ive been putting in since 2007 and no luck except last year I drew alligator but the hurricane cancelled the hunt.

I put in on the alligator hunts too. Last year I was waste deep in water after Harvey hit southeast Texas. My wife and sister had to be rescued by boat. Mother in law had to be rescued from a two story house under construction when she fled her house because the water was getting to deep. Yes, I remember last year very well.

I've been blanked so far but will put in for more in the next week. I would really like to get the hunt the Richland Chambers WMA since it is right down the road from me. But I know a guy that lets me take does off his place to manage the herd so even if i don't get drawn for anything I will still put venison in the freezer.

That Richland area has a bad success rate and I have had the same experience when I hunted over there. Check out this link:

It has all of the public hunt areas in Texas. I would search and find an area that has a good success rate and whatever other key elements you may be looking for.

Mot concerned about that. It is less than 20 min from the house so it is easy to hunt. I already know all about the TX public land hunts but Richland is close enough to make it attractive for evening hunts. As I already mentioned I know I will kill deer this year so this one is more along the lines of just going hunting without being to concerned about tagging out. My buddy is already asking how many does I want for the freezer so the venison is already taken care of.

Did anyone put in on the latest draw hunts in Texas? I got drawn for Balcones National Wildlife Refuge near Austin. So that makes 2 hunts so far. I hunt Balcones first week in December then drive to Lake Whitney for the other hunt. Should be a great week and hope to fill the freezer.
