Nascar, grits are this little white thing that grows on trees in the south. The best ones are fresh off the tree!
Heres what you do;
Get one king size bed sheet, and you walk through the woodsat night and you'll see 'em shining(can't see 'em during the day cause the husk is only open at nite!) Lay the sheet on the ground, and shake the tree. you'll have fresh grits! Boil them like you would rice, add a little salt pepper and butter(not margerine) AND ENJOY!

Some good advice so far!
Main thing, don't bring up THE war!
Don't make fun of our vocabulary.
Definitely, DO NOT try to imitate the speech! Ain't no way in hell you can get away with it, so don't go make-in no fool of yer self! Folks'll think you are making fun of 'em, and will be apt to get a little p***ed off! In which case, you'd find a Rattlesnake to be more pleasant company!
If you hear any ZZ Top, Black Oak, or Lynard Skynard being played, at least ACT like you know that Southern Rock is the best there is!
In reality, I think you will find Southerners to be the most hospitable people around! Have fun!

Yup we do CCR and BadCo.

"Darlington Stripe" comes from the old days of the steel armco gaudrails befor the concrete walls at Darlington. The fast way around the track was to use the rail like a berm for a motorcycle. This would wear a stripe of paint off down to the metal.

RE: Visiting the south...... im worried.

When I moved to Fl. from the midwest back in the 70's, I went fishing with my father-in-law. When we got back to the house and were asked how we did, he said "we caught us a fine mess o fish". I asked him what or how much is a mess. He replied that in all of his 51 years no one had asked him that question before. After thinking for awhile, he said that a mess was "just enough". I guess thats good enough for me. To this day I do wonder what the difference between a mess and a "fine" mess is. Even though the definition is whatever you want it to be, I use that expression with no misunderstanding.

I took my younger cousins out snipe huntin' one night. Needless to say, they didn't like it too much.

We welcome you with open arms Nas. Just don't make a Yankee ass out of yourself.
