Default First buck ever GSW

So, I got lucky and drew a quota for the first gun hunt of Green Swamp West. After two years of solid hunting, I have put a lot of time in the woods over in GSE and still hadn't brought anything home. Originally I was just going to hunt Saturday and Sunday because of work. As I got loser to the date I realized how lucky I was and called in sick on Friday.
I got to the gate just before sunrise and headed out to do some scouting. As soon as I passed the campground a deer ran across the road. I knew I was in for something special. I AM THE WOODS, thank you for giving me a direction to start in. I parked near an area I scouted online and started walking. Within 300 yards I spotted 6 deer. Looked like a couple bucks and the rest does. As I was watching them to see what direction they were headed a hog came across the road 50 feet away from me in a trot. I grabbed for my rifle on my shoulder. He was halfway across the road when a shot rang out in the distance and he took off. Never got a shot on him.
I scouted some more and set me stand up and did some more scouting. I came back and sat around 4 in the afternoon. No movement until sunset. And then it's like someone turned on the faucet. One doe after another started trickling out of the scrub oaks. It got completely dark and I still had two does 20 feet from my tree. I started climbing down extra quietly. I got 5' from the ground before they finally took off.
Back in the stand the next morning at 6a.m. No movement until 7:30. Then, crashing from the scrubs, come a doe and a buck hot on her tail. I thought they were being chased because they kept looking back. They ran right past me to my right and doubled back in the field of planted pines. I looked through my scope and counted 1-2-3-4? Is that 4?!?! OMG, count again 1-2-3-4? OMG! OMG! OMG! That's a legal deer!
Now when they had both come to a stop the buck froze about 100yards out. The doe started walking in my direction and feeding. Between the buck and I were two pines that gave me a 6" window to put a kill shot through. So I waited for what seemed like forever. Looking through the scope, then with my eye, back and forth, over and over. I eventually looked down to see the doe halfway between us and staring at me. She lifted her front foot and set it down. All I know is that, when I have seen deer make any odd movement in the past, the next move is quickly in the other direction. I looked back through the scope still trained on the buck and knew I might not have another chance. I squeezed the trigger. The doe started running all over. I kept looking through the smoke for any sign of motion from the buck. I just knew that I missed. I had to have hit the tree and just not seen him run. I kept looking. And then, where he had been standing. I saw a brown lump on the palmettos. He had dropped on the spot.
I was in no way prepared for the emotions that came over me. All the time I have spent I the woods. All those walks to and from the stand in the dark. Sitting all day and waiting. It finally happened. I am really glad I was by myself. I couldn't stop shaking for ten minutes. It was so overwhelming; I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried a little.

150 grain Remington Fusion bullet shot from my .270, went in just in front of the right shoulder and exited the left. Minor entry and exit wounds. When I went to gut him I found that the heart had been completely liquefied. I could not have asked for a better shot.

8points and 135lbs.
