Looking for someone to shoot me a deer
Maybe I gonna get yelled at for this post, but I wanted to give it a try anyway...
I am not a hunter but I am looking for a deer meat - searched all over the places with no success. I was curious if I can ask someone to shoot a deer for me - I will pay the processing fee and even extra. I am in the Northern VA area. I used to get whole deers from a local butcher store, but they stopped selling them. Thanks in advance for any feedback or advices. |

Try buying some venison online. If you average the cost of getting the animal or the hunter getting the animal, processing fees, and you probably will be cleaning just buy some venison online here are a few sites: http://www.venisonsteaks.com/ http://www.brokenarrowranch.com/Shop/index.php |
Brandon, thanks for the heads up. The problem with me becoming a hunter is that I cannot kill an animal other than fish :-) I can debone any animal though...
Buying venison meat by pound from these websites will be very pricy - I make a lot of sausages and jerky. |

But yes it seems expense but take the time a hunter puts in, gas, the way he harvest the animal, gear, man hours and if will probably average about the same price. We just don't see it as easily as that because it is spread throughout the whole season. |
I can't handle the killing part - nothing religious - just personal. Thanks for taking time and explaining all what is involved on your end.
My thinking was if one of you guys goes hunting for deer, instead of shooting one - you can shoot one more for me and I will pay you for that. I did not expect anyone to go hunting for me explicitly. Do you guys have a limit how many you can shoot per season/year? |

here in idaho you can only shoot one and it is illegal to shoot a deer and tag it with anothers tag

Are you aware that in many states including Virginia it is illegal to kill wild game and sell the meat or its parts? Just to let you know that your posts could be considered illegal as would anyone who lets you "pay" for them to get you some venison. What you buy online is usually farm raised.
|
To add, if any of the "paid for" meat crosses a state line, it is a violation of federal law. Best the OP gets his venison from a legal source that sells farm raised government inspected venison. He is willing to pay someone to shoot a deer for him but not willing to pay the cost of legal venison. I know it is Christmas and all but no good will come of this.

Wonder if there might be an ulterior motive for this posting? I would be very careful of a request like this.
|
Understood... Didn't know the laws.. obviously it is not appropriate to ask for a such favour in this circle - just wanted to try, cause it was very hard to find venison in large quantity anywhere else. Thanks for everyone's time sharing ideas and opinions.

The only legal way you can do this w/o hunting yourself is to have a friend that hunts to give you his deer that was killed and checked in your state by him. He cannot sell the meat it has to be a gift and in VA you will need the checking tag number to have the meat processed.
Like said above if the meat comes from a CWD state you won't be able to bring it into a state that doesn't have CWD (cronic waisting disease) unless its deboned. Check your local game laws before doing anything or talk to a gamewarden. |
There are plenty of white tailed deer farms in the USA that will ship to your house...as well as elk, antelope etc...but you will pay. I bought some venison jerky off of ebay..be prepared to pay anywhere from 500- 1000 dollars for a deer plus shipping...but there are plenty of farm raised deer available...but that takes out the fun..it's much more enjoyable to scout...set up...and make that perfect shot to praise the Lord and drag that trophy to your truck...

Why didn't anyone suggest him looking for roadkill?
|
just assumed if he couldn't kill his own deer he wouldn't be capable of processing one either

where ya at? I'm in wv, we can work something out

WHen I first came here in 2005...I put up a post asking if any hunters would let me hunt on their property...I'm from central FL..A man from Missouri invited me to hunt his 100 acres in the Ozark..It was one of the best times of my life..I shot an 8 point in 30 mnutes..and when I left he stuck more deer meat, wild turkey and elk in there as well. The next year I couldn;t make it..so he sent me 70 pounds of meat through UPS. 1 1/2 day express...On my birthday he sent me a new muzzle loader..we are still friends..I've blessed him a lot too..{-; I 'll post a pic of him and me. It was a 16 1/2 hour drive...I"ve also had another member on here bless me with deer meat twice...after a few years I've learned how to hunt a little better..Of course God is the main provider...so all thanks goes to Him.
