Hello all, I am new to hunting in the Virginia area but not to hunting. I have done most of my hunting in Montana, which to say has not been very recent. I joined the Army in 1994 and haven't picked up my bow until this year. I am used to hunting Mountains and National forest. I saw on a thread from a new VA hunter to hunt National forest to get away from it all. I have been looking into hunting the Clinch Mountain WMA which is in the western part of Virginia, and also some National forest land over there. Has anyone ever hunted that WMA? If so were you successfull? I am like I said used to hunting the Mountains of Montana so the small hills here are no problem. I just don't want to get out there and not see anything and become frustrated. I would also like to hunt the National forest area over there too, does anyone know about it? I couldn't tell by looking on my map whether there is National forest land that connects to the portions of the Clinch Mountain WMA. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

If you google Jefferson National Forest, you can eventually find a Google earth overlay of all of the national forest land in VA. That way you can know exactly each acre owned by the government and not get caught trespassing.
