When hurricane Irene came through,I left home-which was directly in the storms path-and stayed w/family in the Boydton,VA. area. After the storm went north,we went out to survey the damage to his area.He showed me an area where he and a friend allegedly saw a cougar just 2 weeks prior. This person is not a hunter but I consider him trustworthy. He said the cat was chocolate in color as opposed to the typical tan and white.Something was mentioned of tracks but I don't remember his response. There has been no tangible evidence of cats in Va. regardless of sighting reports.I just thought this interesting as the relative brought up the subject without any hint from me.I think these illusive animals will prove to be here,so I thought I would share.

We had one in King William county, don't know how or why it was there but several people saw it, my boss being one that got a closer than he liked encounter. The landowner had a guy come in and take casts of its tracks as it was seen behind his daughters house.
We didn't see it for a while and then a buddy of mine was talking about a guy in Caroline county getting it on his game cam. This area is just a mile or so from where we all saw it. This far up the county the Mattaponi River is normally 20 feet plus wide, however when there is lack of rain I have seen the river turn into 1 ft wide and a few inches deep.
Bear are getting more popular around these parts also.
