Some want to blame dog hunting for everything(sigh) This is not a dog versus still hunting thing, I dont know how some try and turn it into that. Do you really think one organazation can prevent sunday hunting? Its all types of deer hunters.lol. Its guys who prob. dont even hunt(our elected officials) making these unfair rules.

The VAHDA may have a little more clout than you give them credit for. Have you ever went to their website and looked at all the hunting clubs that are members? I'm sure not all have the exact same view but I'd be willing to bet the majority do.

Since we know for a fact that the VA Hunting Dog Alliance was strongly opposed to hunting on Sunday, anyone know of other groups that were for Sunday Hunting? I know the Virginia Citizens Defense League supported Sunday hunting. What about the VA Deer Hunters Assoc. and the VA Bowhunters Assoc?

Um, the Va Deer Hunters Assoc. is supposedly not very supportive of Sunday hunting, although some of their members are. Recent VDHA polls show that more are open to the idea of hunting on Sunday than before.

I'm not sure about the VA Bowhunters Assoc., whether or not they support or oppose Sunday hunting.

No, what they did was solicite donations from any and all clubs that use dogs. This was supposedly to help them get "dog related issues" passed through the GA. The next year they stood in front of the GA and said they represented all those clubs and ALL thier members were against Sunday hunting. This was a campaign of lies and half truths to 1.) Get money from every dog club so they could use thier names and 2.) A lie when they said they had the support of every member of every one of those clubs.

There are some clubs who have asked to have their name removed from their web site BUT for some reason they have not. It raised such a stink the first year that the second year they remained neutral and said nothing. This year at the last minute they changed again and went before the GA and did exactly what they did the first year.

So just because they have a list of clubs does not mean the clubs or all of their members support them as the VAHDA would have you believe.

Without polling all the members of all those clubs you would lose your bet.

Not being familiar with the Sunday Va. hunting laws, I'm curious if all hunting is illegal on Sunday in Va.? How about fishing? How about private hunting preserves?

Fishing is legal. Coon hunters can hunt until 2am on Sunday mornings and it is legal to hunt on a licensed shooting preserve.

It is also legal to discharge a weapon on Sunday just not harvest any game animals.
