Im glad to hear it. I used to be that guy that if i didn't find anything i would get upset with myself and give up. Not anymore though! When I first started hunting I think I missed 3 deer before I got the hang of controling myself and making a good shot. After he gets the hang of that he will be laying em down one right after the other. He just needs some more seat time! I hate to say it but i missed 3 deer last year. One my scope mount was loose. The other two I had some screws loose upstairs i think??? I just plain missed.

I know it sounds silly but when i practice shooting (bow, rifle, pistol) I run or do pushups or do something else to get my heart rate way up. Then its just like buck fever without the buck. It might give him some confidence in the stand if he knows how to control his breathing and make the shot count.

It didn't take me quite that long, but i feel your pain. I started when I was 12 and didn't see my first deer in the woods until I was 14! But i learned alot and when i was 15 I shot my first deer with a BP. It was a unicorn! He only had 1 horn. Then a week later to the day I shot a 7 point. It was my best buck for 11 years until I killed an 8 and then a 14 last season. I hunted public land in Bath Co. until 2 years ago. I still go up there but I am just thankfull to see a deer there. On the farm i hunt now i usually see at least 1 deer everyday im down there. Its almost like target shooting!
