An urgent call for help.. Please...
Greetings fellow archers,
Very recently a young family friend and shooting buddy, Jared McCleary was severely injured in a sports accident. Jared is 15 years old and a very active boy who participates in just about anything he can find time for including archery.
In the last week Jared has endured 3 surgeries to repair a ruptured spleen, ruptured stomach/intestines and to remove an incredible amount of infected material from his abdomen.
Currently he has multiple shunts installed all over his body to drain infection, is suffering from a seemingly unstoppable fever, an infection that just does not like to respond to antibiotics, an open wound in his abdomen to facilitate access for infection control and cleaning, and a ventilator to help him breathe.
The word from the doctors seems promising, but it appears that Jared will be in ICU for some time to come. The long term prognosis seems equally favorable, but again the P.T. and healing time are sure to be tough indeed.
Not surprisingly Sue and Dougo are sitting vigil by Jared' s side awaiting the good word from the doctors. As one might imagine the financial strain is about to hit home. Insurance will pick up a large portion of the bills, but some REAL help is needed pronto to help with the car, house, and utility bills that are piling up at home.
I am asking, on behalf Jared, Sue and Dougo, in the most urgent way possible, for any and all help that can come from anyone here that is able. I know we all have very busy lives and our own set of troubles, but in this case I ask that you do anything you can to help this boy and his family.
The Christian Bowhunters of Ga. http://www.suburbanatlantaarchery.c...bowhunters.html (click the link for contact info, map and directions) is having a benefit shoot this weekend to help the cause, but on such short notice, it may not be enough. At the shoot, we will be holding an auction among other things to help raise some funds. So if you are able, come on down and help if you can. Bring some stuff for the auction, or just be there to see if there is something you need to buy. We welcome and are thankful for anything that you as archers, manufacturers, sponsors, or just plain good folks can do to help.
Our immediate goal is $1100.00 to cover this month' s house note and car note. The utilities and funds for next month are the next goal.
If you can make it to the benefit shoot, that is great and we' ll see you there.. If not, and you can still help, please contact Bill Harris @ Christian Bowhunters either by phone or email

Hello everyone! Thank YOU for all of your thoughts and prayers, we sure have needed them!!! Jared is looking better but not yet stable condition. His blood pressure is still to low, his heart rate to high and is still running a fever. We came home for the night to sleep on a decent mattress for a night. Dougo drove in from Kansas, Fran, Jared' s dad, came in from Ohio on Saturday morning, Jason, Jared' s oldest brother, flew in on Sunday early afternoon. Everyone is here to support Jared towards a quick recovery!!!
His swelling is coming down some and he is looking a little more like Jared, his body temp is good from head to toe, no cold spots! The amount of fluid that he was being given was just unbelievable, the nurse explained that on Saturday alone he received the equivalent of 14 liters!!! His body expelled only 4 so the other 10 went into his body and made him quite swollen.
He is still on the ventilator and is showing signs of fluid build-up in the lungs which we were to expect. He has some fluid around his heart, but this should clear up. His second surgery for the small intestine repair seems to have developed a type of strep infection.
They have him totally sedated for a couple more days. His hardest road is yet to come when they can take him off of some of these drugs and he gets to recover on a more conscious level.
Thank You for your support,
Sue and Jared

Additional Update
Jared' smom
We are overwhelmed with each and everyone of your responses!!! You have brought us to tears with your concerns, prayers, product and monetary offerings. Jared is on the upswing...he has sat up in bed today and is almost totally off his oxygen. Fever, infection, lungs, pain, etc are still a part of the problem, but we are making progress. Hopefully we can start on clear liquids by the end of the week, once his stomach and intestines start to " wake up" . I personally can' t " THANK YOU" enough. Your generousity is allowing me (I am self-employed) to stay here at Jared' s bedside and monitor his progess. We have set a goal to be home by Easter!! Each of you have touched our hearts... may your gifts come back to you tenfold plus more, bless each and everyone of you.........Sue
