RE: Oklahoma Control Hunts
blax1142 on the east side of lexington WMA their is a north/south road. going from north to south about 1/2 way down or about 1/2 mile i think. You will see some step banks on the left side of the road about 200 to 300 yards in their are some persimmon trees that used to have deer hanging around them. but i have not been down their in the last 5 years you may want to go down early and find them hope this helps
(as a note i forget to apply for the hunts) |
RE: Oklahoma Control Hunts

RE: Oklahoma Control Hunts
it is a very busy place come Archery season. Study a map and try to find the hardest place to get to and hunt that location. Any easily accessed area will get hunted extremely hard. Try looking in the south east section of the main hunting grounds. Its quite a hike back there and most wont put in the effort. Where do you live in Oklahoma??

RE: Oklahoma Control Hunts
I didn't get drawn this year either. I'll ask around and If I run accross anyone with info I'll be sure and pass it on. Good luck on your hunt.

RE: Oklahoma Control Hunts
Congrats, Blax. I also drew out for lexington on nov. 15. I've never been down there, but it is just about 30 min. from my house. Where do you live? I'm sure the deer get pressured there, but they may be chasing pretting hard by mid-nov.

RE: Oklahoma Control Hunts
found a nice shed while turkey hunting, you go apast the main entrance to 180th turn right go to the end of road theres a cable or bar gate on the right side of road, pull in straight and walk straight over the gate and up a decent hill, theres a clear up there go left,at the clearing to the next tree line,,scout it out and find a tree.
dav good to see you aroundi joined the army full time still in school until nov6 then im hunting. |

RE: Oklahoma Control Hunts
I think I am hunting black powder in Lex openning day.
How did your draw hunt go? Was it for bow? |
RE: Oklahoma Control Hunts
Is that the same road that the firing range is on?
|
RE: Oklahoma Control Hunts
I'm going to check out lex this evening. Scout/hunt. My wife and daughter are going too. I just want to see what it looks like before my controlled hunt on 11/15.

RE: Oklahoma Control Hunts
My uncle and I drove around Lex the openning day of black powder and there were a lot more people than I saw the last time, too many. He (uncle) drew in on a special rifle hunt too. We hunted the northeast part where the road ends and didn't see anything. Things will settle down by the 15th.
I have a map saved on my flash card I can email you if you need it. |
