RE: ATTENTION FL HUNTERS
Thanks for the info. I've never tried to kill a hawg with a .22 rimfire before. This should be interesting.

RE: ATTENTION FL HUNTERS
The reason that most of the wma land is going to this is beacause of the state and swfwmd wanting to go to a "near zero" hog population. Due to the mass destruction the hogs are causing to the habitat. I think it could be good for a while but I am kindof iffy about the long term affects for those who truly love to hunt hogs and can only rely on public land to support there passions for it.

ORIGINAL: Rebel Hog ORIGINAL: Passafist Thanks for the info. I've never tried to kill a hawg with a .22 rimfire before. This should be interesting. I know some people that use .22s with sucess. While not ideal it is allowed and I will try it. But I would only head shoot in my opinion anything else is not ethical. I wish I had a muzzleloader for I would use it for hogs since center fire is not allowed. Cheers, Chris |
RE: ATTENTION FL HUNTERS
If you get the woods and water magazine it has and article in the November issue about this same thing. Also, A plug for my friend on the cover if you've seen that six point it ishuge

RE: ATTENTION FL HUNTERS
CamoCop,
I don't know for sure, but the rules just say that possion of centerfire rifes is illegal. I believe I have heard other guys use ML during small game to hunt hogs. The way I read the rules they are allowed. Maybe someone else can chime in. Cheers, Chris |

RE: ATTENTION FL HUNTERS
Rebel,
I am not sure that muzzleloaders are not allowed. The following link says that a muzzleloader is not a centerfire. See this link: http://askit.myfwc.com/cgi-bin/myfwc.cfg/php/enduser/popup_adp.php?p_sid=ork3yiQi&p_lva=2466&p_ li=&p_faqid=2466&p_created=1170451623& p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX 3Jvd19jbnQ9MTImcF9wcm9kcz01MzgmcF9jYXRzPTAmcF9wdj0 yLjUzODsyLnUwJnBfY3Y9JnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3Rle HQ9TXV6emxlbG9hZGVyIENlbnRlciBmaXJl I have also send a question into MyFWC to try to get a better explaination. |

Question What firearms are allowed when hunting wild hogs or other animals designated as a small game animal on Florida's WMA? ![]() Answer Each Wildlife Management Area (WMA) has a different set of rules that apply only on that WMA. The possession of centerfire rifles is prohibited on all WMAs during small game season. Other legal methods of taking game are different on each WMA.Use of amuzzleloader, handgun or shotgun may or may not be allowed depending on the rules for the WMA. In general, if a weapon is not prohibited by the general hunting regulations and the regulation brochure for the WMA where you plan to hunt, it is allowed. |
RE: ATTENTION FL HUNTERS
Rebel,
Yep that is the statement. They say muzzleloaders may be allowed. Now do they mean muzzleloader shotguns or is it okay to use a muzzleloader rifle? I take it to mean a muzzleloader rifle is ok, but I sure don't want to do something illegal. I really hope ML are allowed. I would rather use a ML rifle and not a skatter gun. I use to hunt small squirrels with a shotgun, but after using a .22 I cannot imagine going back to a shotgun. Just not as much fun IMO. Cheers, CB |
