I will be in DFW over Christmas with approximate dates of Dec 18/19 to 27/29. I would love to go squirrel hunting with my Dad while there. So am asking for suggestions. Thanks. Nate

I hunt too far away to really be of any help and we don't have many squirrels anyway. However if you still have time to check on it, most all of the land around Lake Ray Roberts is public hunting land. Ray Roberts is a Corp of Engineer lake northeast of Denton and about an hour north of either downtown. (Dallas or Ft Worth) There is also the Caddo National Grassland between Bonham and Paris, but probably 2 hours NE of Dallas. Another option is Aquilla Lake near Hillsboro, about 1 hour south of Dallas or Ft. Worth. I've never been to Aquilla, but the other two have areas thick with oak trees and Aquilla should be well wooded. You'll need a permit to access the land as well as a hunting license. You might try emailing Tx Parks and Wildlife. They have a field office in Ft. Worth and another in Garland. www.tpwd.state.tx.us/hunt/hunt.htm There's an email link at the top of the page and they can help you with the particulars and probably more places to go. Good luck and enjoy your stay. I wish I'd seen this sooner but I hope it helps.
