Anyone had any luck or have any tips for deer hunting on the Chickahomony WMA. Went this morning first time. 5k acres, lots of rubs, fresh droppings and tracks.... Stalked one 6 pt. over a ridge and lost him... Bringin the stand next time.

BE CAREFUL!!!!!! Normally all the nearby "metro" WMA's get packed to capacity. I've been there (and also to Powhatan, Amelia, CF Phelps, etc...) and it can get really crazy. Sorry to say, but you end up seeing so much blaze orange sometimes, it can look like a freakin' pumpkin patch! [:'(]

The best advice is go in early, and go in deep. Go where you think others won't go.Tomorrow is a doe day in VA so it's going to be even more packed. Good luck!!

I wont be there tomorrow. I hunt in Doswell most of the time. But I went to Chic on thanksgiving and was fine. I didnt go into the main entrance, I passed the main entrance road and went to the last parking spot on the left before the intersection where that old convenient store is. Only car there..... walked almost to end of trail and cut left to get out of the young pines and into the hardwoods. Didnt see a single hunter in the woods all day and there were plenty there but they all park at the main entrance road like a bunch of followers if ya know what I mean. I usually go wherever anyone isnt!

I'm hitting up Doswell tomorrow. Hoping to get my first deer.
