Default New to Ok.

I recently moved to OKC area of Oklahoma in Sept. and was curious to know how hunting is during the week on state land for birds? Is it worth my time this year to go to state land without having the time to really scout the areas or am I just better off going to a preserve type place to get some work in for the dog ?
Would like a little imput. Thank you

The Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) in Oklahomaare closed to Quail hunting during deer gun seasons. Quail numbers have been reported as very, verybad. Down over 50% from last year. If you want to keep your dogs sharp, you will have to invest in some preserve hunting this year.

Hey, welcome to Oklahoma by the way! What kind of dogs are you running?

I've a Lab ,was thinking pheasant more than quail really. Yes had read with drought and all quail was way down.
This year is really a bust for me as far as hunting. Did join OTA to do some trap & skeet shooting and found Silver Leaf for sporting and thinking about joining another club if I can. Heck my decoys and duckboat are still back in Pa. with a friend until I can get them back here in the spring
