Well, I grabbed the good ol 30-06 this morning and headed out to the stand beside the house out here. I know that some wind is good, but gusts of wind like we're having today just may keep deer movement slim to none. If a man ain't careful, he could get blown right outta the treestand. There wasn't anything happening this morning. The only thing I saw was another hunter. I sat for two hours and headed back to the house. Oh yeah, it's really warm out. It's been freezing cold all week, deer have probably geen rutting like crazy, and on the opener, it warms up. I'm gonna have to have a word with Mr. Murphy.

Same thing here in KY. To widny and warm. 67 degrees here. My buddy shot a spike todat that was bedded 10 yards from his stand ten minutes after he got to his stand. I didnt see but 3 squirrels, 1 bat, and turkey roosting in the evening.

Froman you mean my 12 y/o boy put you to shame! he killed his first buck sat. morning in that wind. and we saw 4 others before he shot. one real nice 8 that just would not give him a shot. he shot a broken tine buck that had 3 on one side almost a fourth. and a broken beam just above the brow tine. he was beat up and limping but that didnt matter to that boy. he was a monster!
I had a great opener!
And yes i could have done without the wind and temps!

I made the trip up to Ark. this past weekend to fly fish a little before MS gun season opens in 2 weeks. I know what you mean about the winds. It was tough trying to cast. Maybe next weekend will be better for you.
