Sorry fellows. The files are too large. Anyway...I think this place should better my odds for the Green Swamp. I saw no signs of man there. This place is hard to get to and 2 miles . If I get a big one I may be calling one of you to help me get it out of the swamp.;)Well here is another pic to show water going over one of the off roads.

Thursday a hunter checked in a nice 8 point that field dressed 158 1/2 pounds.

So now up to date DEER 12 HOGS 52 at the Rockridge checkin

I have a real bad cold and tried hunting yesterday. I heard hogs while it was dark but around 9:00 I started sneezing so I got out of my stand. I locked my Summit up out there. Where I hunt I have seen no human signs.;)
The water has gone down alot . I'm only hunting about 1 1/2 from the checkin station . But I'm a good mile off the road. 30 min. walk.

PS I plan to go next Tues ---Thursday. The gate is 40 minutes from my house. I fish on Mondays and Fridays at Tenoroc. Specks are biting.:)

As I said in an earlier post..something has happened to the deer population in Green Swamp..I don't know if Swift Mudd employee's are killing them..the hog trappers..both have unlimited anytime access to the area..or if they are just being poached out by boadering land owners who have the only access to lots of Green Swamp land..or a little of all, but the deer are getting killed out and not going through the check station anymore. Just a little over 20 bucks at the 471 station when it used to be in the 90's at this time.
There's still some good ones in there..I hunt it just about every day..not like I used to due to heart problems, but still get a mile or so from vehicle. This is one of the rubs the buck my 7-30Waters missfired on.
Stay away from powder if you don't have 4wd. All other roads are ok. You can't get down Strand Hammock Rd...the nice people at Swift Mudd plowed it up just before the season..can't ride a bike or walk it very far.. any farther than where Levi crosses it..the bike tire will sink up 2".
I heard they killed a big heavy mass 16pt. at Richloam and have it's picture at the check station.

yeah it's a real monster. the last time i was out there they didn't have the pics out. it's a really nice deer to say the least.

There was a nice 8pt. 158lb deer checked in the Rockridge side of the Green Swamp last Thursday. I'm also hunting about 1 1'2 mile off the road this side of the river. toward the checkin station. Been hearing hogs but still no shot. I wouldn't mind meeting one of you guys out there befor ethe season is over. I'll be out there tomorrow around 5:20AM MOn. morning

He'd kill me if I told but think NASCAR and Spring Break. Here's the 10pt he got recently also. He has a public land spot that he has been hunting for many years and has itfigured out.He took me there before but I didn't get anything. Most of the deer have to be floated out.

Hey...that's encouraging he got that on public land. And no ....We wouldn't expect you to reveal the spot maybe just north or central Florida.I do all my hunting in the Green Swamp except for 2 out of state expeditions.Great deer though. I stuck my stand in an oak tree yesterday and I don't plan on sharing my spot as well. I'll be in it tomorrrow. My son leaves for the army today and I need to be here with him today.

Tell your son congrats for signing up. What field will he be getting into?

I've been in the Coast Guard for about 25 yrs. When I started to join upin 1980, I only planned on doing one hitch. Not sure what happened though. I guess I liked what I was doing (CG aviation)and didn't have anywhere else to go on the outside. I was 19 at the time, goofing around on the beach when I decided to sign-up. Turned out to be a great career.....so far!

I'mstationed in Oregon at the moment but getting transferred to Wash DC. I have to leave in about 2 weeks.I was thinking of stopping by my bro-in-laws farmin Pensacola for a2 day hunt.I'll probablybe stopping by Daytona to see my folks. They're getting older and I haven't seen them in a year or so.I might even try to sneak in a hunt whilethere.

It would be nice to make a harvest as I got skunked here in Oregon this year. No deer,elk or bear. Did great last year.

I was infantry and then promoted to the White House honor guard in 78 under President Carter.

Couple more of big red's rubs..I got one more wk. to get another crack at him.
My luck I'll be using my .54cal. flintlock I made this past summer and it will mis-fire..if so I'm givin it up.
That rub with the flintlock starts at my waist and the cut marks are at shoulder height. The flintlock has a 38"L barrel.

Spent 3 months TDYon the Cargo Ship Kukui in Hawaii waiting for the Blackhawk to return from West Pack.
It tied up in front of the Blackhawk at Sand Island Coast Guard Base, Honolulu,Hawaii.

If you're still into the CG life andaren't aware of this CG site,here is a link that you might find of interest.A few folks in during the50s-60's post on here. Lots of CG related discussions.

That was the luckiest deer I ever got so far. Never got a muley before and planned on shooting the first legal buck in an area I never hunted before.He was the first deerI seen after 3 days on sitting in a ground blind. Probably never get one like that again. I was hoping to get a blacktail this past season but couldn't get'r done. Thought it would be nice to have a W/T, B/T, and a muley mounted together.

Reb...I was looking at a satellite picture today of the spot you were talking about. . I'm a mile south of that . Same general area but south. Do you have Google Earth?...If not I can have my wife send you that .That is 100 times better than Terra Server. Awesome man.You simply type in an address and WOW super bright. I could see my suburban in my front yard. I followed the roads to Strut's house.Gives each towns churches , crime , restaurants you name it.
