i hunt christian county. do you know what part you're going to be in??? most likely it's going to be a farmland hunt so most likely you're going to see some deer one way or another. the bugs shouldn't be a problem. it should be getting kinda chilly by then so they should be all gone. you may be there for the beginning of the prerut but i'm not sure. if you get around good food sources you'll be around does and if you're around does you may see a buck. you might try rattling. it may not work great but it's a viable option.

sounds like Bucks and Beardshunting camp??if your in crofton.
Hunter 06 is right ----good time to do a little rattling not hard rattling.. .The bucks will just be busting up there batchelor groups and sparing. No rut yet . they will still be on the bean or corn fields. bugs arent bad .It will be nice weather wise.

Thanks Bowd......
I'm thinking it might be Blugrass Bucks...? or Real World Hunts...... My buddies did the research and picked this one....... not exactly sure what pushed them to this particular one......Have you or anyone heard of this place? If so, what can you tell me about the place? Nice bucks? Crappy/Good accommidations? Too few bucks? Alot of hunting pressure? Alot of small bucks? Alot of jaw-droppers....?

I hunt very close to this area. I am actually a little southeast on teh Todd County Christian County line. When in MidOctober. I beleive the 14th-15th is Muzzleloader. It should be in teh 70's to low 80's that time of year. We should be about ready to get our first frost. That being said, weather is anything but predictable.Deer should be starting to move. Rut is typially teh first few weeks of November.
GREAT area of Kentucky to hunt. While I beleive Kentucky is a little talked abuot destinmation for quality deer, there is a four countyarea of Kentucky that typically out-produces other ares of the state. Christian County is located right in teh heart of the zone.I do not know what you consider to be a small deer or a draw dropper so let me give you an example of the proeprty we hunt and you tell me your thoughts.
Located in entral to southern Todd county, (whish is within 30 minuts of crofton) I have 100 acreas of farm land with about 750 in production. The remaining 250 are overgrown fields and woodlots. 3-4 of usprimarily hunt 600 acreas. Over the last 6 years we have alloud new or young hunters to take small bucks, but we have limited what we take.Over 6 years there have been 2 deer in excess of 150, 6 deer betweeen 140-150, 5 deer between125-140. Most have been 8-10 points. There have been several deer (6-10) that were young 8-10 point deer that were smaller. All the larger deer have field dress in ewxcess of 170lbs and had spreads rtanging from 16-21 inches.

never heard of real world .heardf of bluegrass but but dont know of anyone whos hunted it.
that Bucks nad beards is nr crofton also . had some buddy s hunt there and they saw a few nice deer but didnt score . said they felt like a number .soda cans and candy wrappers under the stands.
I have several farms in trigg, christian and s caldwell. last 4 yrs on 1400 acres weve averaged 12 bucks over 120 a yr and have taken a 151, 163 and a 174 bc.I just saw one bigger last week bowhuntin but he was 175 yds .cant wait to get back on him. mId oct is muzz like fred said. and the youthhunt is the week before that.
I killed my 151 py last yr on nov 8 , after the muzz and they were startin to get frisky.saw 3 bucks fighting before that and my buck came in meaning business. Ive seen some deer starting to follow does as early as the 2 day muzz hunt.but hard core action is around the 14th of nov.
If i had to pick a time to bowhunt , it would be the last week of oct-first week of nov.
Mornings will be nice and cool, alittle hot at mid day with the temps dropping in the evening.
heres one of our chritian co bucks.
