Get a heavy barrled 22-250! Might be alittle over the 200$ range though, well worth it though, i have a heavy remington model 700, 0.75 groups at 200 yards, and less than 1/2 inch at 100...Highly reccomend it.....

I'd go for the .17 Hmr.. It won't cost a fortune to buy or shoot and will do the jobs your asking of it.

How does your survivor shoot etoth? Mine is putting up some crappy groups. Im shooting 45gr winchesters too. Mine is a handy rifle and have been taking it out hunting alot lately and Im dissapointed in it. Ill be using my 204 Ruger again. Ill take it to the range and see what the deal is.
Well, I don't have any sand bags, or a bench rest. I usually wad up my duffle bag and shoot off of it. I can get three shot groups of about an inch (at 100 yds.). I really don't have a lot of practice as a bench shooter.

My practice as a kid was shooting cans at the dump.

Things that are supposed to help: get the trigger lightened, rest the forstock just behind the bolt.

I think that with a trigger job and a good shooter, mine will get in the .5 inch group range.
